Zusammenfassung:In this report, we describe the use of positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) as an early investigation in a patient with high inflammatory markers and no localizing symptoms. PET-CT showed arteritis of large vessels, subsequently confirmed as giant cell arteritis on biopsy. We have therefore avoided other investigations which would otherwise be performed to exclude occult infection and malignancy. This report has highlighted the expanding role of PET-CT for the rheumatologist.
