Zusammenfassung:The combination of host protective and tumor-promoting actions of the immune system throughout tumor development is termed cancer immunoediting. This review briefly summarizes the currently vast evidence supporting the immune system's role in not only protecting against developing cancer, but also sculpting tumor immunogenicity and immune escape. We also briefly summarize the history of immunotherapy and discuss the immunoediting process in the context of spontaneous tumor regression and whether this observation can be utilized in future treatment regimens.
