Zusammenfassung:Highly reliable hospitals for patient care begin with the nursing leaders view of the organization as a voluntary association of members who have expertise and choices in their work. Through nurses' involvement in promoting the collective understanding of the interrelationships and subtleties of the organization, more reliable systems will evolve that enhance the work of the nurse and promote patient safety. This transformation begins with leaders' willingness to change the way they think and act as they go about their daily business.
