Importance of Intramammary Node Resection in Breast Cancer Staging

Sentinel node procedure plays an essential role in the accurate staging of breast cancer patients. In our experience lymphatic imaging helps to distinguish between primary and secondary echelon nodes and, importantly, to identify lymphatic nodes in unpredictable locations. The authors present a clinical case where several sentinel nodes are visualized, and the importance of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy is enhanced due to the existence of extra-axillary lymphatic drainage.
