The Hot Spur Sign of Diastematomyelia

A 12-year-old male with back pain was referred for evaluation of scoliosis. A nuclear medicine bone scan was performed, which revealed increased radiopharmaceutical uptake in the L1 spinous process and spinal canal at this level. Follow-up CT and MRI were diagnostic of diastematomyelia.
