Particularly, the HCC/non-HCC expression ratios of proteins involved in metabolic processes showed significant correlation to those of mRNA (r=0.9). A considerable number of proteins were expressed as multiple spots. Among them, several proteins showed spot-to-spot differences in expression level and their expression ratios between HCC and non-HCC poorly correlated to mRNA ratios. Such multi-spotted proteins might arise as a consequence of post-translational modifications. |
