Preventing HIV infection: lessons from Mwanza and Rakai
Studies on interactions between STDs and HIV and the Mwanza and Rakai findings suggest that prevention and control of STDs before or early in this epidemic will probably reduce STDs in the highly active core population and will have a major impact on the spread of HIV.
