The distribution of virulence genes in S. Gallinarum isolates was examined by Southern hybridization. All tested isolates had the invasion gene, invA, the virulence plasmid gene, spvB, and the S. Enteritidis fimbrial gene, sefC. The distribution of virulence genes among S. Gallinarum isolates did not correlate with any specific RAPD type.
