description Based on questionnaire data collected in a large northeastern US city from 12 foster parents & 12 social workers at placement agencies, & questionnaire data & telephone interviews with 8 foster agency directors, services provided to foster families who care for sexually abused children are explored. The findings indicate that more sexually abused females than males, & at least twice as many black children as white, had been placed in foster care. The data also show that foster parents consistently report receiving less extensive educational & support services than were reported by social workers & agency directors. All respondents agreed that foster parents of sexually abused children need specialized training & education. 2 Tables, 19 References. Adapted from the source document.
