Zusammenfassung: | Compares the Eurocentric & Afrocentric perspectives & philosophies of social welfare & examines social welfare policy implications of the latter. The Afrocentric philosophy of social welfare is to guarantee equal opportunities for all people in a given society to maximize their talents & skills. The fundamentals of this philosophy include recognition of individual identity as collective identity, poverty as an intolerable consequence of society's lack of commitment to collective welfare, & the interrelation between government & individual responsibility. This philosophy could be implemented by enhancing educational opportunities, guaranteeing minimum incomes to working & poor families, establishing universal health care coverage, & promoting friendly workplace atmospheres. 59 References.
