Zusammenfassung:It is argued that today's societies, by overemphasizing speed, are not experiencing the benefits of slowness, described as an adherence to natural, rather than constructed, rhythms. While it is acknowledged that speed & acceleration have their advantages, particularly in increasing production & purportedly expanding workers' free time, high-speed life in the workplace can translate into high-speed social activity & impair the quality of life. It is held that as the brain is divided into two hemispheres that interact in a balanced way, equilibrium must be reached between slower & faster approaches to life or malaise will result. 23 References.
