Studying research collaboration using co-authorships

Strategies for analyzing the structure & change of collaborative scientific research networks on social policy initiatives are reviewed, focusing on bibliometric analysis of coauthored scientific articles. The relationship between collaboration & coauthorship & the nature of bibliometric data are discussed. Their refinement & use to analyze various aspects of collaboration are exemplified through application to coauthorships at Umea U in Sweden, identifying collaboration with other Swedish institutions as well as European, North American, & other Nordic countries. 8 Tables, 3 Figures.
