Zusammenfassung: | Describes a project designed to examine residents' concepts of tourism, in which 40 students at the U of Canterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) & 40 members of the general public were asked to read brief paragraphs describing fictional travelers, & then identify tourists among these. Results suggest that New Zealanders are more likely to identify foreigners as tourists than they are to identify their compatriots as tourists, despite the fact that the majority of tourism in New Zealand is domestic. 8 References.
