description This report examines some of the more tangible aspects of social and economic change associated with a recent mass exodus of population from rural, Spanish surname villages of north central New Mexico. A basic assumption of the study is that while the impact of the movement has been felt throughout the area, its intensity has fluctuated from one type of village to another with distance from potential job markets and the accessibility of improved highways playing instrumental roles in past and continuing changes. Satisfactions of residents concerning contemporary social and economic life styles in the villages also were explored.
