description | The future prospects for black Marxist-Leninist organizations are evaluated through an examination of the career of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers. A brief history of the League is outlined. Conditions conducive to the rise (the nature of Detroit & its race relations; the structure & history of the automobile industry & the United Auto Workers; & black rebellion) & demise (economic decline in the auto industry; weaknesses in the League's ideology; & the irreconcilable image of whites as exploiters/allies) of the League. The present situation is assessed. Black Americans are described as a proletarian people with the majority living in Ur areas. The decline of current worker activity is due to the state of the economy, & particularly, unemployment. When the economy becomes more stable, black worker rebellion can be expected. Several political organizations currently attempting to organize blacks & other workers include the Communist Party, the Socialist Workers Party, & various new Communist parties. Socialism is the objective. Black workers are prone to identify themselves as black rather than as workers. The segregated black community will facilitate the organization of black workers along national lines. Their ideology may combine nationalism, Maoism, & some form of class analysis. 2 Tables. G.
