Zusammenfassung: | This article is an analysis of different conceptual theoretical postures generated around new information & communication technologies, & their implications in the contemporary society are presented. It is documentary research based on the theoretical arguments of Mattelart (1998), Castells (2000), & Bisbal (2001), among others. From this analysis, important reflections arise, which among other things, undoubtedly point out that with the upsurge & advance of information & communication technologies, there is an expansion of the possibility that societies exchange cultural information, politics, science, & technology. Nevertheless, it is necessary to consider the negative aspects that these innovations have brought in relation to culture, democracy, & identity in developing countries. 14 References.
