Zusammenfassung: | This study utilizes narrations from interviews with 16 female activist teachers in Mexico City & uses the coercion-election analytical axis to explore the mediations existing between the biographical dimension & the institutional environment within which their vital experience takes place: family, school & trade union. Although the attributes inherent in female teacher's identity tend to be totalizing & to product stability because of the way they connect with gender determinations, the other part of the binomial, in other words, the activist's identity, tends to subvert this connection, introducing tension & conflict.
