Zusammenfassung: | Although most studies of community have been in terms of structural analysis, a more direct approach would seem to be related to action per se. If an action is made the unit of analysis, a revision of the usual sociological framework is necessary. This paper presents a framework for the analysis of community action. Five criteria are offered for classifying actions: (1) locale; (2) temporal limits; (3) action orientation; (4) action objects; and (5) the actor. A technique for locating community group actions, using a 'community reconnaissance and an organizational analysis' is presented and discussed. Four stages in the analysis of community group actions are recognized: (1) the origin of action; (2) the definition of goals and planning; (3) the implementation of plans; and (4) the achievement of the goals. Each of these stages is analyzed in terms of the total framework of the action process. The implications of this framework for further sociological study of the community are indicated. R. J.
