description A comprehensive video tape can illustrate those aspects that contribute to the quality of life in a community. Officials in Murray, Kentucky, recognized the economic development potential of a video presentation and formed an advisory committee to provide guidance and assistance during production. The tape has become an effective means of familiarizing persons with the community. It is used to attract industrial firms to the area and in recruitment of personnel and can be duplicated and mailed inexpensively. Attention to technical factors contributed to the tape's effectiveness. Technical factors to be considered in producing a video presentation include: 1. expense, 2. production company, 3. a well-written script, which should be fully developed and accurate prior to taping, 4. narration, 5. voice quality of the narrator, and 6. music. The completed program should be of broadcast quality. Several months may be required to produce a video presentation. Production of the tape appears to have resulted in a closer bond among the sponsoring agencies. Minor updating will be required every 2 or 3 years.
