The Performance Force of the Interrogative in Colloquial Russian: From Direct to Indirect Speech Acts

An examination of pragmatic strategies of the interrogative in colloquial Russian proposes an ethnographic account of its illocutionary force, both direct and indirect, and it to similar behavior in English.
