On the distinction between restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses in modern English
This article deals with the distinction between restrictive and nonrestrictive relative clauses in English. This distinction is far too often taken for granted in the standard comprehensive grammars of English but in fact it poses a number of problems both of definition and of application.
