Zusammenfassung:Activism in law and society seeks to ensure that the law stands for equality and for justice. Global change is energizing this field, and underscores the fact that the stakes in law and society research are high. Suggests that activism can strengthen research and that inquiry can benefit activism. Reflects on activism as engagement. As field of study, creative interaction between activism and inquiry has been inspired through cross-fertilization among scholars from different backgrounds. Reviews examples of this in people such as Neelan Tiruchelvam, Upendra Baxi, Sestuo Miyazawa, and Alda Facio. Considers what can be learned from these examples of law and society scholarship that is intellectually profound yet is engaged with humanitarian social change. Includes three comments.
