Light Emission During the Fracture of Boron Filaments
During a study on the mechanical properties of various forms of boron filaments it was observed that they sparked or emitted light when broken in tension. The experimental setup and forms of filament are touched on. It is suggested that this effect is due to triboluminescence. (MHR)
