Zusammenfassung:Two-dimensional arrays of AAATTT (A = adenine, T = thymine) deoxyribonucleic acid hexamer stretched with n-octylamine ligands have been formed on a graphite surface. These structures were prepared with the inhomogeneous reaction at the interface between water and organic solvent of 1-phenyloctane and then transferred to the surface of graphite. Through STM observation it is demonstrated that the array is composed of stripes that are 4.6 nm long and are oriented along 〈18, 1, 0, 0〉 and 〈18, 0, 1, 0〉 directions of graphite. A surface structure model based on a hexamer–octylamine complex dimer has been proposed.
