Phase 2 carried out 6 months after the end of the first intervention consisted of collecting baseline data. There was a significant association between knowledge on unintended pregnancy and STIs mainly with type of establishment, class, age group, sex, religion (p<0.001 respectively) and being sexually active (p=0.016). There was a significant increase of awareness in the experimental schools (34.1% vs 76.5%, p<0.0001), but not in the control schools (34.5% vs 35.5%, p>0.10). Health education had a significant impact on the knowledge of participants. We recommend reproductive health education through the framework of school to be used as a national policy in African developing countries.
Nous la recommandons comme une politique nationale dans les pays Africains en développement.</description><identifier>ISSN: 1118-4841</identifier><identifier>DOI: 10.29063/ajrh2024/v28i3.10</identifier><identifier>PMID: 38583071</identifier><language>eng</language><publisher>Nigeria: Women’s Health and Action Research Centre</publisher><subject>Cameroon ; Developing countries ; Education ; Health aspects ; High schools ; ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLE ; Reproductive health ; Sexual behavior ; Sexually transmitted diseases ; Students ; Surveys ; Teenagers ; Youth</subject><ispartof>African journal of reproductive health, 2024-03, Vol.28 (3), p.92-98</ispartof><rights>African Journal of Reproductive Health © 2024.</rights><rights>COPYRIGHT 2024 Women's Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC)</rights><lds50>peer_reviewed</lds50><woscitedreferencessubscribed>false</woscitedreferencessubscribed></display><links><openurl>$$Topenurl_article</openurl><openurlfulltext>$$Topenurlfull_article</openurlfulltext><thumbnail>$$Tsyndetics_thumb_exl</thumbnail><linktopdf>$$Uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/27314943$$EPDF$$P50$$Gjstor$$H</linktopdf><linktohtml>$$Uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/27314943$$EHTML$$P50$$Gjstor$$H</linktohtml><link.rule.ids>314,780,784,803,27924,27925,58017,58250</link.rule.ids><backlink>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/38583071$$D View this record in MEDLINE/PubMed$$Hfree_for_read</backlink></links><search><creatorcontrib>Mbongueh, Mohnchimbare C.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Gisèle, Etame L.</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Clément, Assob N.J.</creatorcontrib><title>The effects of education intervention on the knowledge of some reproductive health issues amongst secondary school students in Douala IV Municipality, Cameroon</title><title>African journal of reproductive health</title><addtitle>Afr J Reprod Health</addtitle><description>This study aimed to determine the effects of education intervention on the knowledge of some reproductive health issues amongst secondary school students.
