Cluster Radioactivity Studies In Russia (I)

A review of some cluster radioactivity studies in Russia is given. A short historical overlook is presented. Some emphasis is done on a semi-microscopic fission-like model by Pik-Pichak, which is applied to the calculations of full mass distributions of the emitted fragments both in the cluster radioactivity and cold fission regions. Some systematics of cold fission are predicted. The problem of the cluster radioactivity mechanisms is discussed. It is shown that study of the elastic scattering and deep fusion-fission of the daughter products provides independent information on the decay mechanism of the parent nucleus.
