Television bandwidth compression transmission by motion-compensated interframe coding

Supported by progress in satellite communications, digital signal processing technologies, and a strong need for advanced communications media, video communication will be introduced widely in business activities. Cost reduction of the television receive-only earth station has brought about one-way video teleconferencing in the business area. In this article, the principles of motion compensation and the present status of research and development are described.
