Zusammenfassung:The magnetic and magnetoelastic properties of ferromagnetic transition metal–metalloid (TM–M) amorphous alloys can be varied within large limits by chemical composition modification. Thermally activated structural relaxation or crystallization processes can be also used to optimize the macroscopic characteristics. The present paper examines the changes in the magnetic and magnetoelastic properties of the Fe70Cr10B20 amorphous alloy induced by structural relaxation subsequent annealing. Experimental investigations using the Villari effect were performed. The alloy is nearly zero-magnetostrictive in both native and relaxed states. Important changes in the low field behaviour of the magnetostrictive strain observed after annealing, were attributed to the structural relaxation.
