description The standard approaches to evaluating the explosiveness of dust composed of solid natural fuels - the methods developed by the Central Boiler and Turbine Institute (TsKTI), the association Soyuztekhenergo, and the Ail-Russian Institute of Heat Engineering (VTI) together with the Ural Institute of Heat Engineering (UralVTI) - are based on the determination of different empirical characteristics of explosiveness that are calculated using data from an elemental and/or technical analysis of the given fuel. The value of the characteristic - called the explosiveness coefficient K sub e (Soyuztekhenergo), fuel coefficient beta sub f (TsKTI), explosiveness index B sub 20 exp e (UralVTI), or combustibility index K sub a (VTI) - is used as the basis for different schemes that classify solid natural fuels according to the explosion hazard they present.
