Zusammenfassung:Public Service Announcements highlighting critical blood shortages with requests for urgent donors commonly appear in various media outlets. To determine the impact of allowing 5ARI individuals to donate blood, the annual number of patients receiving either of the 5-Alpha-Reductase Inhibitors finasteride or dutasteride were identified. Information on donors and restricted recipients could be incorporated in the labeling and bar coding systems used within current blood donation programs.
