Zusammenfassung:We have investigated the feasibility of a novel integrated-optical (IO) microphone. Sound-pressure variations acting on a small membrane directly modulate the phase of a guided wave in a (planar) optical waveguide by the IO nanomechanical effect. The phase modulation is transformed into an intensity modulation in an IO difference (or polarimetric) interferometer.
