Zusammenfassung: | A mechanism for separation of chemical elements and isotopes by the light-induced drift effect (LID) is discussed for the conditions in chemically-peculiar star atmospheres. The efficiency of LID separation may be stronger by several orders than that of the effect of light pressure. The general features of LID separation are discussed and some numerical results are presented. The combined action of LID separation and hydrodynamic flows in the atmosphere are discussed as a mechanism producing a surface inhomogeneity of chemical anomalies and a large-scale magnetic field.
