Seven polymers in sediments and four polymers in water were characterized from the study area, among which LDPE was the most dominant. Sediment texture results showed that clay particles were able to retain a greater number of MPs. This study shows that the Vellar estuary is contaminated with MPs; however, further investigation is required to classify the estuary as polluted.
