Zusammenfassung:The study of workplace violence and aggression has surged in recent years, perhaps driven by highly publicized incidents of workplace aggression involving homicide committed by disgruntled employees. A focus on workplace anger in different occupations is critical, given the role that anger can play in workplace aggression and the mental health of employees. Anger also has the potential to disrupt team functioning, which can have high-stakes consequences given the importance of cohesion in high-risk occupations. This chapter first addresses how anger in the workplace has been conceptualized and assessed among employees in general. It then highlights workplace anger in high-risk occupations. Much of the research on anger as a problematic response to workplace stressors has been conducted with military personnel, but research has also been conducted with police officers, medical professionals, and bus drivers. The chapter identifies and discusses common themes from these high-risk occupations. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: create)
