Zusammenfassung: | An analysis based on the concept of a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) has been made for an ion exchange membrane chlor—alkali cell. The effects of alkali concentration, current density and temperature on the power consumption are examined with mass, energy and voltage balances. Numerical results are presented for cell voltage, power consumption and heat requirements for a cell with Nafion-295 and Nafion-901 membranes. The results of these analyses are compared to those of a bench scale experiment using Nafion-901 as the membrane. |
