Electromagnetic field cascading in the beat-wave generation of plasma waves

In the present development of a general analytical solution for the temporal or spatial evolution of elecromagnetic cascading, relative to the beat-wave generation of intense plasma waves, the amplitude of the nonlinear beat plasmon may be solved separately; after this, the solution of the entire el...

description In the present development of a general analytical solution for the temporal or spatial evolution of elecromagnetic cascading, relative to the beat-wave generation of intense plasma waves, the amplitude of the nonlinear beat plasmon may be solved separately; after this, the solution of the entire electromagnetic cascade can be constructed in terms of Bessel functions. In long plasmas, the electromagnetic cascading has time in which to develop during the pulse propagation, spreading the pump energy over a wide spectrum. This may suppress such other instabilities as stimulated scattering processes. (O.C.)
