Intercostal Herniation of Pleural Fluid

Newman et al present the case study of a 69-year-old man who presented to the emergency department with dyspnea and a chest wall mass while taking dasatinib for chronic myeloid leukemia. A physical examination revealed a fluctuant mass on the right posterior hemithorax that was filed with simple fluid and associated with a right-sided pleural effusion on bedside ultrasonography. Computed tomography chest imaging demonstrated a communication between the mass and pleural effusion.
