The Natural Resources Defense Council and the US-Citizens Aviation Watch reported that operation of an airport involves high levels of toxic emissions. Many of the chemicals released into the atmosphere are listed as cancer-causing compounds. Furthermore, airports are not required to abide by Clear Air Act standards, making them the largest source of pollution in the world.
