description Sediment trend analysis is a widely used tool in coastal management. Since this method was first defined, many software applications have been developed that benefit from the currently available computational technology. Because of the technological choices made when they were created, most of these early applications are nowadays difficult to use. eCSedTrend is a software tool with a graphical user interface (GUI), which aims to facilitate sediment trend analysis. It is developed with an object-oriented paradigm that helps to develop and modify the software. This last aspect allows eCSedTrend software to evolve and be used on multiple platforms. For the purposes of quality assurance, eCSedTrend is provided with a data set that can be used to test for correct software behaviour, especially after specific adaptations and upgrades. eCSedTrend incorporates a state-of-the-art theory of sediment trend analysis. In particular, it is possible to study each case either on its own alone or combined, as defined in the context of sediment trend analysis.
