Data from this study suggest that methyl halide emissions from domestic biomass burning have increased by a factor of 4–5 from 1950 to 2005 and based on the expected population growth could double over the next 25 years. This estimated change has a non-negligible impact on the atmospheric budgets of methyl halides.
