Zusammenfassung: | In amphidiploid cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.), monosomic stocks have been used extensively to assign genetic markers to specific chromosomes. Once a gene has been assigned to a specific chromosome, monotelodisomes can be used for determining whether it is associated with the long or the short arm of the chromosome. Thirty-four mutant genes were tested for association with one or more of 14 monosomes and seven monotelodisomes. The results showed that curly cotton (ac) is in the long arm of chromosome 16; that LcD, (working symbol for Light brown lint from G. harknesii Brandg.) is in chromosome 16; that virescent-1 (v1) is in the long arm of chromosome 20; and that a new marker, Naked-tufted seed (Nt), is in the long arm of chromosome 26. The Naked-tufted allele segregates as a simple dominant and is allelic to n2; thus the Nt2, symbol is assigned to the Naked-tufted allele. A desynaptic mutant ax was shown to be as2, and an Ml2 gene is reported as a newly identified homoeoallele of Ml1 |
