Conversely, treatment led to: (1) diarrhoea and body and organ (liver, kidney) weights loss; (2) oxidative stress evidenced by an increase in lipid peroxidation (TBARS) and conversely a decrease in antioxidant enzyme activities (SOD, catalase, GSH-Px) in tissues (blood cells, liver, kidneys); (3) a decrease in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities in blood plasma.

Des extraits acides de chair ou de foie de poisson ont été injectés par voie intrapéritonéale à des rats
Wistar, pendant 10 jours. Ce traitement a entraîné chez les rats traités, par rapport aux rats témoins traités avec une solution de NaCl (0,9%) : (1) un ralentissement de la croissance, avec diminution du poids du corps et des organes (foie, reins), ainsi que des diarrhées ; (2) un stress oxydant mis en évidence par une augmentation de la peroxidation lipidique (TBARS) et une diminution d'activité des enzymes antioxydantes (SOD, catalase, GSH-Px) dans les cellules sanguines et les tissus hépatiques et rénaux ; (3) une diminution de l'activité enzymatique de l'alanine amino transferase (ALT) et de la phosphatase alcaline (ALP) plasmatiques. Aucun signe de neurotoxicité n'a été observé.
