A tale of two islands - trauma care in New Zealand

Concerns the lack of trauma data from the South Island contributed to the recently published report by the Major Trauma National Clinical Network, which was based on data from the New Zealand Major Trauma Registry (NZMTR), because of the lack of resources at Christchurch Hospital to enter what trauma data it has collected. Comments on the poor status of trauma care in the South Island as compared to that of the North Island.
