description A novel ureido-functionalized Pb( ii )-imprinted polymer (Pb( ii )-IIP) was synthesized using Pb( ii ) ion, γ-ureidopropyltrimethoxysilane, AIBN and EGDMA as template ion, functional monomer, initiator and cross-linking agent, respectively. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of Pb( ii )-IIP could reach 97.5 mg g −1 . Langmuir models were adopted and R 2 was 0.9908. The adsorption process is endothermic and could occur spontaneously. The relative selectivity coefficients of Pb( ii )-IIP were 3.55, 7.02, 3.77 for Pb 2+ /Cd 2+ , Pb 2+ /Cu 2+ , Pb 2+ /Zn 2+ respectively. A surface ion imprinting technique was utilized to synthesize a novel ureido-functionalized Pb( ii )-imprinted polymer where the Pb( ii ) ion, γ-ureidopropyltrimethoxysilane, AIBN and EGDMA were used as the template ion, functional monomer, initiator and cross-linking agent. ​
