Zusammenfassung:Objectives: It is critical that we target individuals under the age of 18 years to prevent tobacco use initiation and to aid in rapid cessation of such use once it has begun. Yet, many resources available to aid in prevention and cessation of tobacco use are targeted at the adult population. This presentation will review those resources available for adolescents, children, and families. Methods: This presentation will review educational materials, curricula, and relevant online resources. This includes current medical society position statements and both national and international guidelines on tobacco cessation as relevant to the pediatric population. Results: Educational materials are available through numerous medical and public health organizations. Local, national, and international resources -- many of them free for personal use and clinical dissemination -- available are geared toward specific age-groups, cultures, and regions. This includes the population under the age of 18 years and families. Social and legislative approaches to adolescent (and underage) tobacco use also have been used both successfully and unsuccessfully to prevent tobacco use. Conclusions: Many resources are available to aid in prevention and cessation of adult tobacco use. Review of such resources and approaches available for adolescents, children, and families found that, although such resources exist, it does take some effort for the CAP to access them. Our work may be facilitated through creation of an easily accessible "toolbox" targeted at tobacco use prevention and cessation for CAPs.
