Rosenblatt et al talk about breakthrough advances in the understanding of fundamental biology and the dawn of an era of precision medicine coupled with access to big data and research conducted in clinical care settings which herald a new age of innovation for drug discovery and devices with the promise of improved health. There are competing national priorities for investment, including education and other social determinants of health.
