Zusammenfassung: | [...]tumors of the small intestine are often times asymptomatic and go undiagnosed, detected only at autopsy, 75 per cent of which are benign.2 When symptoms do occur, they are nonspecific and include pain, weight loss, melena, hematochezia, or hematemesis. Despite the wide variability in presentation, symptomatic small bowel lesions are more commonly associated with malignant versus benign tumors.3 Hemorrhage is an exception; benign tumors present with hemorrhage more frequently than malignant.4 Preoperative diagnosis is difficult due to the rarity of these well-differentiated smooth muscle tumors and the associated lack of pathognomonic signs or symptoms. |
