Zusammenfassung: | Currently there are more questions than answers about the Zika virus epidemic and microcephaly. The declaration by the World Health Organization that this is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern should help to expedite research. There are many unknowns around quantifying individual risk. Prospective epidemiological studies of at-risk women and their children are being established in Brazil, and may provide us with much needed information about the natural history of this virus and its sequelae. |
