The isolation and purification afforded amorphous solid which was subjected to physical, chemical and spectral techniques UV, IR, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR and HREI-MS for the structure elucidation of the isolated compound. The compound was named pentandraol. From the present study, it was concluded that the methanolic extract of Zaleya pentandra has antibacterial and antioxidant activity and contains a novel compound named as pentandraol. |
