Zusammenfassung:	Highlights • Costs of meningitis surveillance in Niger and Chad were US$ 1,951,562 and US$ 338,056 respectively. • Average cost per capita was 4 times higher in Niger than Chad: US$ 0.12 vs. US$ 0.03 respectively. • Case-based surveillance was implemented nationwide in Niger but was largely absent from Chad. • Upgrading systems to recommended standards would increase costs by 9% in Niger and 179% in Chad. • Results can aid other countries to anticipate resource requirements for meningitis surveillance.
